German at Leighton Primary

Leighton Primary is currently in the second year of a modern foreign languages project with the Goethe Institute in Manchester. Andrea Price is leading the programme and has filled the school with German language material.
We attended a tree planting ceremony in the new european friendship orchard at the school. Andrea writes.

The "Our World " club at Leighton have planted an "Obstgarten der Freundschaft" ( orchard of friendship) to mark the partnership between Leighton and the Primary School in our twin town Bischofsheim. The trees were planted in May to tie in with the British Council etwinning 5 year celebrations. Children at Leighton love learning German and the trees will be used for cross-curricular Nature, Science and Geography. We were delighted that CANTA were there to take part in the celebration and look forward to developing our friendship with Bischofsheim .

CANTA put Leighton Primary in contact with the Mangold School in Bischofsheim.

French at Wybunbury Delves Primary.

The Delves school is working hard to establish French in the curriculum. The project is being supported by the Modern Languages Department at Brine Leas High School.
CANTA has supported the project by facilitating contact with the École Primaire Annexe in Mâcon and by purchasing webcams.
When we were there the 'Cafe Croissant' was in operation where pupils were encouraged to use their French. This was followed by a live webcam interaction with children in Mâcon.
